Cookies and external content

In short

This website uses no analytics cookies and no advertising cookies. We do not know who you are, we do not follow you from site to site and we sell nothing to anyone. The only external content is the Google Maps map in the contact section, and it does not load until you allow it.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website leaves in your browser so that it can recognise it later. Some simply make the site work or remember a choice you made: these are called technical cookies and need no permission. Others are used to build a profile of people and show them targeted advertising: for these the law requires your consent before they are installed. That is why the banner appeared when you arrived.

The only cookie of ours

We use one, and its only job is to remember the answer you gave to the banner, so that we do not ask again on every page. It is called consenso_cookie, it contains the word si (yes) or no followed by a random code, and it lasts six months. It holds no name, no email address and nothing else about you, and it is shared with nobody. It is a technical cookie: without it we could not even remember that you said no.

The record of choices

When you press either button, besides the cookie in your browser we also note the choice in a register kept on our own server. This answers a precise obligation: article 7 of the European Regulation places on us, not on Google, the burden of proving that consent was properly asked for and given. Each line contains only the date and time, the random code that is also in your cookie, the choice (yes or no), the version of this notice and the language of the page. There is no name, no email address, no IP address in the clear and no list of the pages you looked at. Lines are kept for twenty-four months and are disclosed to no one.

Why the Google map is there

San Vito is a small town and the house is on a street in the centre: the written address alone tells you very little if you are coming from elsewhere. The map is there to show you where we really are, how far the sea is and what surrounds you. We chose Google Maps because nearly everyone already has it on their phone, so directions open with one tap. That is the only reason: no commercial arrangement, nothing in it for us.

What it involves, and what happens if you say no

The map is a piece of Google embedded in our page. The moment it loads, Google Ireland Limited receives your IP address and may install cookies of its own, over which we have no control: their rules are at policies.google.com/privacy. That is precisely why we keep it switched off until you say yes. If you refuse you lose nothing essential: the map stays a grey box, the full address remains written in plain sight, and there is a button to open Google Maps in a new tab if and when you choose to.

The typefaces

The typefaces used on this site are hosted on our own server. They are not downloaded from Google or from any other provider: until you allow the map, your browser contacts no address outside danonnaamelia.it.

What you will not find

No analytics of any kind (no Google Analytics or similar), no Facebook or other social pixels, no advertising, no "like" buttons, no automated chat. The enquiry form runs on our own program, hosted on our own server: what you write reaches only our mailbox.

How to change your mind

You can review your choice at any time: at the foot of every page, next to the privacy notice, there is a Cookie settings link that brings the banner back. You can also delete cookies from your browser settings, under privacy or history.
